After finishing Secondary School in 1987 he resumed training percussion with Mrs. Pieter Janssen and Werner Otten at the Maastricht Conservatory.
He obtained his bachelor degree in 1993 and completed his musical education in 1995 when he took his master’s degree “cum laude”.
Roy is employed at the ‘Schunck muziekschool’in Heerlen as a percussion teacher and HaFa-coordinator. Furthermore he regularly substitutes in renowned Wind orchestras, Brass bands as well as professional orchestras and ensembles of different composition. Roy is also instructor with the Drum band Sint Martinus in Urmond and the Drum band L’Union in Born. Since May 1st, 2003 Roy van Wersch is the musical leader of theDrum- and Bugle Corps of the Koninklijke Harmonie Sainte Cécile.
